| Blue
Mountain |
| The
Blue Mountains rise just outside of Kingston
and are the perfect place for a scenic drive
or hike – with a guide. Some prefer the more
secluded resorts like Strawberry Hill, located
in these mountains, where you’ll also find
rum factories and the famous Blue Mountain
Coffee. The highest peak is 7,402 feet above
sea level. |
| Dunn’s
River Falls |
| This
is one of the island’s best-known
attractions. Located in Ocho Rios, Dunn’s
River Falls is a dramatic 600-foot drop of
cascading water that is considered the Niagara
of the Caribbean. Visitors carefully climb up
limestone tiers and then reward their efforts
with a swim at the beach below. Anyone who is
not sure of foot should remain below and just
enjoy the view. Guides will take you up the
falls for a nominal fee. Inside tip: Try to
avoid this location when cruise ships are in
port as it will be very crowded. |
| Beaches
Overview |
| Jamaica
is the perfect place to relax on and bask in
the warm, tropical atmosphere. You can sink
your feet in the sand, frolic in the waves,
people watch, sample a wide array of water
sports, party down, or simply lie on a beach
towel. With 200 miles of beaches there are
plenty to choose from in addition to the
favorites we mention. One hot spot is Mahogany
Beach, a public beach with a bar and grill,
water sports facilities and catamaran cruises
operated at the property. It’s a popular
hangout for locals and visitors alike and has
weekly events like movie nights. Private and
secluded or crowded and lively, family
friendly or clothing-optional couples
hangouts, there is a beach for everyone. By
the end of your vacation you’re sure to have
found your favorite spot in the sand. |
